Make Music New York!
Make Music New York is a new live, free musical celebration across the city. (June 21st is also the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.) On that day, public space throughout the five boroughs - sidewalks, parks, community gardens, and more - becomes impromptu musical stages. Thousands of musicians, in every genre, play on the sidewalks for the people of New York. The MMNY 2007 included 560 free concerts with 1,927 musicians. This year the event is even bigger with more than 800 concerts! MMNY is described by the city officials as "one of the largest musical events in the city's history."
